IWC
In 1868 Florentine Ariosto Jones, a watchmaker from Boston, founded the "International Watch Co." in Schaffhausen, far from the watchmaking factories of French-speaking Switzerland. His goal was to combine innovative US manufacturing techniques with the renowned craftsmanship of Swiss watchmakers. In Schaffhausen, Jones found the ideal conditions: modern industrial plants, a hydroelectric plant powered by the Rhine to operate the machinery and, no less important, a centuries-old watchmaking tradition. The first Jones caliber, named in honor of the founder, immediately contributed to creating the excellent reputation that IWC still enjoys today.
IWC Schaffhausen has established itself internationally thanks to its passion for innovation and its pioneering spirit. Among the world leaders in the luxury watch segment, IWC produces haute horlogerie masterpieces that combine engineering and maximum precision with an exclusive design. The reputation of the Schaffhausen brand is also and above all based on the very high competence of its collaborators, who master the art of building manufacture calibres and watch complications such as the minute repeater, the tourbillon and the perpetual calendar. For the planners and designers of IWC, the promise of excellence "Probus Scafusia" - "Quality made in Schaffhausen", formulated for the first time in 1903, is not only a great professional challenge, but also an authentic passion.
Each IWC watch is assembled individually by a professional watchmaker. They are their expert eye, their manual dexterity and the precision of their instrumentation that allow you to create, starting from hundreds of individual components, the IWC wristwatches, each of which is a fascinating combination of aesthetics, functionality and perfection, a model of watchmaking art and incomparable excellence.
