Since 1860, Constant Girard has worked on the architecture of the movement in addition to the technical and finishing details. Thus he developed the famous "Three bridges" parallel under which the mechanism was aligned.
In 1889, the Jury of the Universal Exposition of Paris awarded Girard-Perregaux a gold medal for a masterpiece that has since become an icon of watchmaking for all brands and for all ages: the pocket watch La Esmeralda.
The GP09400 caliber that powers the watch is developed and produced internally at the Girard-Perregaux manufacture. Thanks to its ingenious construction, the barrel has been resized to accommodate a longer spring and therefore offer a longer power reserve, min. 60 hours instead of the 48 hours of the traditional model.
